What is Orthomolecular Medicine?

What is Orthomolecular Medicine?

Dr. Linus Pauling

It consists of medical practice based on the use of the most appropriate nutrients such as vitamins, amino acids, minerals, trace elements, fatty acids, phytotherapics, nutraceuticals, in therapeutic doses according to the individual biochemical requirements of each patient.

It implies an approach that allows, not only to treat but to prevent the installation of the different pathologies through the balance of natural substances in the organism. Using the supplements or even the diet itself, without ignoring or neglecting traditional therapies. It consists of Integrating.
Individual biochemistry is the central precept of Orthomolecular Medicine.

Etymologically, Orthomolecular means "appropriate or correct molecule", a situation that differs for each individual and even for different moments of the same individual. For this we rely on the precepts outlined by its creator and creditor of the Nobel Prize Dr. Linus Pauling.

What is Nutrigenomics?

Food & Environment

The search for knowledge about appropriate and potentially healthier foods has increased in recent decades among scientific societies in both the health field and the world population in general. It is known that food and the environment can influence the health status of an individual, in this way they have used food and plants as medicines.

With the advance of science, especially after the concretion of the Human Genome Project, scientists began to wonder if the genes and bioactive compounds of food could positively or negatively influence the health of the individual. This is how Nutrigenomics emerges, which consists in the study of the interactions between the genome and nutrients. It aims to understand how the different nutrients incorporated with the diet can modify cellular homeostasis in such a way as to convert them into a prophylactic or therapeutic tool.
